Teleste Intercept to Showcase ICON9000, Best-Of-The-Breed Intelligent, Remote PHY Node at SCTE-ISBE Cable-TEC 2017
ICON9000 is a 1.2 GHz optical fiber node that brings the benefits of Intelligent Network Management to the North American cable broadband markets. The node is shortlisted for BTR Diamond Awards 2017.
Cranbury, N.J., September 29, 2017 – Teleste Intercept – A Teleste Antronix joint venture – is pleased to showcase ICON9000, a finalist for BTR Diamond Awards 2017 at the SCTE-ISBE Cable-TEC Expo 2017. Unveiled this week, ICON9000 is a best-of-the-breed Remote PHY node that provides network operators excellent performance combined with intelligent features that allow operators to prevent service outages, reduce truck rolls, and cut down operational costs.
SCTE-ISBE Cable-TEC Expo 2017 will take place on October 17-20 in Denver, Colorado, and the BTR Diamond Award winners will be announced during the event. We look forward to meeting you at Booth #177. Come visit us to meet our team and learn more! For more information about the node, please visit our web page.
“The broadband industry faces many pressures to deliver high-quality networks that are dependable and efficient,” said Tom Gorman, program chair for the Diamond Technology Review Program. “Teleste’s ICON9000 node truly impressed judges with its ability to respond to network issues, support Remote PHY and extend bandwidth. Our judges believe that this node should get a lot of attention at EXPO.“
High-speed broadband is all-important – but could you get even more out of your network?
In the midst of changing consumer demands, cable operators have been focused on how to scale effectively and efficiently to respond to ever-growing data consumption and improve management tools to increase uptime. At the same time, meeting customers’ expectations for an excellent service experience requires constant development of services that create high customer satisfaction.
Representing the latest in broadband technologies, ICON9000 has been designed to offer operators excellent 1.2 GHz capacity with Remote PHY capability that enables a smooth transition to distributed network architectures. The node is also fortified by added intelligence – features and functionalities that allow it e.g. to align itself automatically according to specifications, communicate with the management software, and stop ingress from spreading in the network by isolating its sources.
In other words, ICON9000 is capable of delivering future-proof, high-quality services and performing a number of tasks that have traditionally required a lot of manual maintenance work and cabinet visits. This in turn improves reliability, cuts down truck rolls, increases customer satisfaction and eventually reduces operational costs.
The intelligent features are made possible by an optional transponder unit, built-in electrical controls and an ingress switch in every RF port capable of isolating ingress automatically. The transponder unit enables bidirectional communication and remote management of the node, while unidirectional remote communication can be established over the Remote Ingress Switching (RIS) protocol. Even managing the node on site has been made easy through a USB port and an Android application.
Designed to fully meet the North American cable industry requirements, ICON9000 is manufactured by Teleste, a leading European provider of broadband network products and technologies with the company’s Intelligent Networks concept. Teleste’s first intelligent network devices were introduced more than a decade ago, and today its intelligent nodes are used by all major operators in almost every European country. The company has also shipped its intelligent 1.2 GHz access network products in large volumes since 2014.
“Managing churn and operational expenditures forms a focal challenge for cable television operators. In spite of the ever-increasing need for service uptime, operators need to find new ways to reduce OPEX. Solving service problems efficiently and effectively is also vital for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Our Intelligent Networks concept was created simply to address operators’ daily problems in network maintenance, help them improve network operation and provide better services for their customers,” explains Hanno Narjus, SVP of Network Products for Teleste.
